Can you make inventory status not required for some items?

We are trying to use Fiix integration, however we use inventory status in our netsuite instance. There is an issue when fiix tries to make an inventory adjustment via SOAP request because they dont provide a value for inventory status. Unfortunately they can not change the request, I am looking for a solution on the netsuite side as it seems more flexible. I tried to capture the beforesubmit record via a user event script, however it seems since the SOAP fails it doesnt make it to the beforesubmit.

Any help or ideas would be great.
