Import Open AR and AP for new acquisition

We just acquired a company and I am trying to import their open AR & AP balances as of September 1. I also do not want to lose aging information if at all possible. When I try to imprt I am using Posting Period Sept 2023 but the invoices/bills all have dates prior to September 1.

I do have the Accounting Preference "ALLOW TRANSACTION DATE OUTSIDE OF POSTING PERIOD" set to Allow.

But I am getting the error "The transaction date you specified is not within the date range of your accounting period."

Is this even possible? Or am I missing another setting?
