Explain GL impact of Work Order Close

Hi folks,

I am setting up Manufacturing Routing and we use Average Costing. As a test, I've entered a WO for 1 unit, issued the exact materials on the BOM and did the completion resulting in 1 unit, no scrap. Why am I getting a GL impact to my WIP account? I would have expected an impact to the variance account on the Close if we had used more or less material in the issue than the BOM calls for, but why are we getting a WIP impact?
