Period close currency revaluation has generated currency balances and AR and AP balances

I would appreciate your support and assistance in the best way to align my account balances.
The account I have been asked to review has not undergone currency revaluation since 2007. after running the revaluation, some balances were correctly adjusted whilst others were not. using the euro account as an example i have a balance in GBP when there is no balance in the account.
Before revaluation
The balance sheet report shows zero, when I look at the account balance via the chart of accounts, there is a euro balance of 22,133.96 and a zero GBP balance.
After revaluation
The balance sheet report shows a balance of £18,828.41.
