Does closing a record trigger a User Event scrtipt? What trigger type is that?

After clicking the Close button on a Return Authorization I noticed that one of the User Event scripts I would have expected to trigger with an After Submit function did not in fact trigger at all.

Does the Close button trigger User Event scripts at all? And if so, what functions are supported by this?
What kind of script would otherwise pick up this change in the records state?
