Question About Inventory Detail and Client Scripts

I'm currently working on a client script that automates the lot numbers for the Inventory Detail when receiving a Purchase Order. However, I'm currently encountering this error:

'Not supported on current subrecord: CurrentSubrecord.selectNewLine.'

I accessed the Inventory Detail subrecord using the getCurrentSublistSubrecord() method, before trying to add the lot number using the selectNewLine() method.

When looking through, documentation, I found this note under the getSubrecord() method:

Does this note also apply the getCurrentSublistSubrecord() method? If so, is it currently impossible to update Inventory Detail using a client script?
