Need clarification on the AIC pricing

I looked at the AIC pricing details here which provides details on the PAYG & Monthly options for the Standard & Enterprise Editions. I would like to know if the customer needs to pay separately for the connections they use (or) its only the messages per hour. The pricing page mentions the features included (adapters, file transfer etc) but not sure if they would be charged once they start using the adapters as connections.
