OMC HOW-TO: Collecting Logs from Docker Container Via Syslog

edited Dec 31, 2018 12:40PM in Observability & Management

Summary

This guide explains how you can use syslog log listener to collect logs from docker containers (HOW-TO)

Content

Overview

This quick start guide shows how to monitor Docker containers using OMC Log analytics syslog listener support. In this flow, you will start your docker container with properties to send it's log entries to a syslog receiver. Log Analytics will start up the syslog receiver on an OMC agent to listen for these messages.

NOTE: This example is for docker container started to send syslog messages in RFC-3164 Format. The following is an example of this format:

<27>May 8 03:20:01 hostabc rsyslogd-2068: could not load module '/lib64/rsyslog/lmnsd_gtls.so', rsyslog error -2078
