Managing German public holidays legislative requirements

edited May 3, 2018 9:35PM in Workforce Management 2 comments

Summary

Germany have complicated legislative requirement in relation to public holidays

Content

Hi

We have this issue with a couple of European countries where there are various regional public holidays.  For example, in Germany the third party payroll provider needs to receive the location of the legal entity for taxation purposes.  This has been set up as the Location in GEMS.

For one of the legal entities,  employees are in different customer sites and there are approx. 20 different holiday calendars based on where the customer site is located.

There is also an added complication as there are times where employees may be entitled to public holidays which are not based on where they live e.g. an employee who lives in Bavaria, close to Hessen and works in Hessen is linked to the Hessen holidays.

Howdy, Stranger!
