How to set parameter default value to null in BIP 12c

Content

Hi

I am using Oracle BI Publisher 12.2.1.2.0  (build:20160906.0632) . I have a parameter named ‘Spec’. Its Data Type is String. I want to set its Default Value to null. When I input null to the Default Value field, the value actually is ‘null’.

Would you please tell how to set the default value to null in BIP 12c?

Thank you very much!

    Hello ,

For Text Type parameter don't mention any value in the defualt tab.keep it empty , server will default take that as null and pass null value to data model. Thanks

    Hi

I tried empty value, it was working in 11g, but not working in 12c.

The 12c server is working with any value except empty/blank space.

found the root cause, seems error handling in BIP 12c is different from BIP 11g.

    thanks for your reply.

    any update on this?

In my case, the first value of the LOV is taken as the default value and that is not correct. ideally It should show only blank but it automatically taking the 1st value of LOVs.

I tried giving empty spaces for 'default value' and also some other ways as mentioned in the below link.(that is only for 11g version though)

Please let me know if there's a work around.

My BI P Version is 12.2.1.3.0

  • Hi @Ruma Bhatnagar-Oracle ,

This is a 8+ years old post, that has been moved across 3 different forum platforms over the years and lost attachments, pictures etc.

If you have a question, please post it as a new question in https://community.oracle.com/products/oracleanalytics/categories/bi-publisher .

Keep in mind to provide all the details that somebody now being in your position would need to understand what you are trying to achieve and how, and also include a full product name and version. Thank you.
