Making Asset fields read-only

We need to make Asset Number and Asset Cost field read-only

Hi All,

We have a requirement to make certain fields (available to users) within the Asset area read-only (i.e. prevent users updating them), specifically both the Asset Number field and the Asset Cost field - has anyone had experience of making these - or similar - fields read-only?

The advice appears to be creating a sandbox in which the targeted fields can be made read-only, and this appears to work for Asset Number - however, for Asset Cost field we can't tick the read-only box without overriding or removing an existing piece of code/expression that already exists ( #{bindings.leaseNumber.inputValue ne null}) .
