What is the best practice for renaming current Asset Books?

Hi 

We have 7 current books with transaction in, the org is going through a name change so we need to amend all the books and names, I believe end dating the current ones and removing transactions and then reposting these into a new book via a HDL or something.

Are there any best practice guides in terms of doing this or any other ways possible for this?
