Is it possible to give part search in configuration page as attribute

Dear All,

We want to use part search as an attribute in the configuration as if we use Quick Add it is adding items to the grid in next group sequence number as if the model contains 6 items it ends with 1.6.

If we use quick to add it is adding under 2.0 and next item as 3.0 we want to get items inside the model for that we want to add the part search in configuration level where user can reconfigure the item and it will add to the item grid as 1.7 and 1.8 so on.
