Journal Entries using IS accounts are not pulling into the new year

Hi - we have two instances where there is a journal entry involving income statement accounts in December where this data does not pull into January of the following year into retained earnings prior.  Seems to be only income statement account related as the balance sheet balances all pulled forward.  Has anyone had this happen?
