Safest/default Path to Publishing changes to GL (Essbase) Trees: Publish Chart of Account Dimension

Summary

We have been experiencing issues in making changes to GL tree structures in OTBI, so I wanted to be clear on what the options are for each step, to eliminate the possibility of errors.

One in particular that I was struggling with was the Yes/No Publish Detail Values Only parameter for “Publish Chart of Account Dimension Members and Hierarchies to Balances Cubes” (just like the person who wrote Update Balances Cubes Chart of Accounts Dimension Members and Hierarchies - Detail Values? — oracle-mosc)

I attach a decision chart (please see attached image) which I hope you find useful, but if you just want the quick answer, here’s my understanding of the ‘safest’ or default route for publishing tree changes.  (Please correct me if I am wrong).
