Have anyone been able to use the out of box employee transfer rule to reverse/cancel a transfer?

I have tried: Same Entity/Different Entity Transfer, same/different custom dimension transfer.

However, once the transfer is done, I cannot cancel or transfer the employee back to original position/entity/custom dimension.
