Personal email address listed as work email

We are exploring the potential implications of listing an employee's personal email address (e.g. Gmail, Outlook, etc.) as their work email in order to receive email notifications. Understanding this could have visibility impacts as personal email addresses will be exposed on the directory, as well as potential SSO impacts, wondering if others have come across a similar requirement and if there are any additional considerations.
