Can the definition of a data map be alter with groovy

We have a need to allow a power user to execute a data map.  It cannot be a smart push because the amount of data exceeds the threshold.  I have a groovy rule which uses the REST API PLAN_TYPE_MAP to execute the map.  That works fine.  The issue is that the power user needs to update the Entity on the Data Map.  How could I accomplish this?  Could I change the definition of the data map on the fly?
