Item association to new org- getting error Serial Item No is not in list of values

Summary:

Item created in Master ad assigned o child Org. When trying to assign the same item association, upon saving get the error  Serial Item No is not in list of values

Content (required):

It allows us to Select the new Onventory organization to whioch item needs to be assigned but upon saving get this error message. Also after getting this error message unable top close the form. Have to force close application/browser
