how to resolve macro automate connection to a smartview error im receiving

Summary: We recently upgraded to EPM. I'm looking to create a macro to automate connecting to the epm server for a smartview report, but I'm having problems in getting the connection to work. I get an error message saying that there is a problem with the URL. I'm using the same URL as when manually logging in. I have looked in google for an answer to this and it mentions using a friendly name - not sure if this is what is causing the problem and if so, How do I create a friendly name to use in the macro.
