Bulk asset updates to In Use and Inventorial flags

Summary: Need a method to update In Use and Inventorial flags on many assets

Content (required): We are looking for a method to update many assets (few thousand potentially) in one pass to change values for the "In Use" and "Inventorial" flags at a minimum. We were not able to locate an FBDI template to accomplish this and wanted to confirm the recommended method for this update. If there an FBDI available that we overlooked or perhaps a VBCS for Excel option? We did locate the below SOAP web service, but don't know if this is the recommended or only method available. The spreadsheet FBDI method would certainly be easier for end-users to build a spreadsheet
