Is it possible to delegate approvals without role delegation?

Dear Community,

I am currently working on the setup of the approval delegation functionality; based on the current testing, it appears that while the approval workflows are routed to the delegated person, if that person does not have enough permission in the system, they would not see all the details relevant for the approval (e.g. current location/ salary vs proposed location/ salary; requisition details, etc.).

I was wondering if there is a way to grant the delegated approvers the necessary permission, without using the role delegation functionality, as we don't want to grant those users access into the system to perform tasks, we just want them to be able to approve.
