Currently the serialization functionality in the WMS is either very stringent (have to scan serial number at every step of handling the item) or very loose (only at packing with only the barcode type field a validation for what is scanned at packing).

We would like to have the ability to only scan serial numbers at packing, but then this needs to be validated against a list of valid serial numbers for the SKU to ensure a user does not enter any random value.  We also get items returned due to failed customer deliveries, so the system should allow for the same SKU serial number to be used after a period of time since the SKU has shipped.  SR 3-16110690991 has been created that addresses this.
