Disaggregation of Shipments Forecast to other dimensions

How the shipments forecast gets disaggregate to other measure dimensions.

Content (required):

We understand that forecast is generated by demand engine per forecast tree(either product-Location or Product - Customer dimension) and then gets disaggregated to other dimensions(like Demand class, customer sites, etc) based on the shipments history average per Shipments Forecast Measure definition.

How does Shipments History Average measure is derived and is this average derived at all lowest level dimensions?

Does it look at the most recent history or the entire history horizon at the lowest level of shipments history?

What option controls this behaviour and if there is scope to improve it.
