Project Template re-design

Hello All,

Our business is asking for us to re-design all Project Templates with a totally new task structure. The templates would also include capex\opex tasks together in one template. We are now live with PC for 2.5 years with the original Project Template\Task structure. Are there huge risks by setting up new templates? The business would also like the existing projects to point to the new templates. Is this possible and would we lose the audit trail of the original structures? What is needed on the PO side to point to the new tasks? Just want to make sure
