ETVs, practical tips on how to get started

Hello,  

I got some questions with ETVs and was wondering if you could help me out  

I am able to create ETVs in the Program-UI under <Settings> but how

      • do you actually populate the ETVs with data ? So far I was only using Profile-Lists as data-source.

      • do you use ETVs in a program run ? Is there a specific trigger that I need to use ?
