PBCS - Custom Dimensions

Hi - I am in the infancy of setting up PBCS from scratch.

With regards to custom dimensions - I created a new one at the point of creating the application using the wizard and added 2 example members for test purposes and then attempted to create a simple form.  The form was created but I could not enter any data manually into the form where these new members were residing - they were 'greyed out'. 

Did I create these correctly?  Should I have loaded them using a template or is there something else?
