Did You Know? Derive Project Expenditure Types from a Procurement Category

edited Jul 26, 2023 10:03PM in Project Management Resource Center 24 comments

This requirement appears quite a lot, where there is a need to synchronize the Procurement Category of project-related purchase requisition lines with a Projects Expenditure Type. So how do we do this?

The solution overview is as follows:-

  1. Use a Descriptive Flexfield ("DFF") segment on the Procurement Category (“Category”) to hold a mapping to a Projects Expenditure Type.
  2. Modify the Expenditure Type segment of the Project Standard Cost Collection Flexfield ("Cost Collection Flexfield"), for the purchase requisition context, to only return the Expenditure Type mapped to the Category (as above).

For both of the flexfield segments above we need to define new value sets. We’ll create both via the Project Financial Management (PFM) Setup and Maintenance task

Howdy, Stranger!
