Is there any way to change a Category's Asset Clearing Account if it already in use?

Summary:

We are live in Production and business requires that we update the Account segment in the Asset Clearing Account segment for all Asset Categories. This field is locked in the UI for any that are in-use, and we have not been able to update through spreadsheet/configuration uploads.

Content:

  1. Is anyone aware of a way to update the Asset Clearing Account value for Asset Categories that are in-use?
  2. Is there any way to update end-dated Major/Minor category names to allow their use in new Major/Minor category names?

Context for #2: If we have to create new categories, adjust existing assets, etc. to use a new Asset Clearing Account, then use of existing names is highly preferred by users. Having to use new category names like "Furniture1" for the foreseeable future is not a clean solution.
