How to update Item DFFs using FBDI?

While updating only DFFs for the already created items, is it required to prepare the FBDI with all the standard item attribute values along with the DFFs, or if we just populate the DFF values populated( with Item number and Organization details) and keep the other columns blank since the items are already created.
