When and why did Start/End Date year change to 2 digits?

EDMCS Start/End Date year display has changed from four digits to two digits. Is there a setting to display as 4 digits?

Within the past month, the Start/End Date fields in EDMCS have switched from displaying 4-digit year to 2-digit year. This causes an issue because our end dates are set waaay in the future, to the year 4712 (the latest date in the system). But with 2-digit presentation, it looks like the end date is before the start date.

I searched everywhere in EDMCS and knowledge base but could not find a way to change the display. Tried Tools>Settings, View, Viewpoint, Node Type, Hierarchy Set, Properties. There is no option for this.
