Is it possible to make Project DFFs conditionally read-only based on Project Status?

Summary:

We have a requirement, where we want to restrict user driven manual updates on Project Additional Information (DFFs) based on where the project is, in its lifecycle (Draft/Approved etc.). Example: If the project status is Draft (Not Approved), allow all updates. If its in Open (Approved), don't allow any modifications. 

Do we have project status as a parameter to write page personalization scripts on additional information tab? Or are there other ways to achieve this?
