Database Polling - Message consumption

Hey,

I am creating an integration for a client, that has to use Database Polling.

The client would like to know the following:

If I create an integration with Database Polling as it's trigger, does it consume a message from the message pack every time it polls the database?

If I for example put it on 1 second, would it then use 60 messages per minute (and thus 3600 per hour!)?

Or does a message only get consumed from the message pack when it actually triggers and runs the integration? (So when data is found and retrieved)

I checked out the documentation, but couldn't get more clarity from it:
