Can we receive a serial number on different item than shipped,serial number status is changed to inv

Summary:

Hi Everyone

we are having an issue with serial number uniqueness defined at within model and inventory items.

Currently Business Process is

initially, we shipped the order for this item LMU4233LV-URH0-SYN01(serial controlled at uniqueness is within model and inventory items).

At the time of return, item we are returning as WLMU4233LV-URH0-SYN01.

then the same item was issued for manufacturing for refurbishment(rework). refurbished FG item is now RLMU4233LV-URH0-SYN01.

the refurbished FG item RLMU4233LV-URH0-SYN01 item is shipped to customer. this is one complete cycle.

incase if the customer wants to return the item due to some reasons, then the same cycle is repeated. at the time of shipping the refurbished item again RLMU4233LV-URH0-SYN01 the second time order is stuck in the interface due to serial number uniqueness.
