Why can't I see the offering description from the learner side?

Summary:

We have set up a Course with multiple Offerings available to book onto. These Offerings have multiple activities within them spanning several dates and times.

Because there is no way of showing all the dates and times for the Offering activities prior to enrolment (there are too many to include in the Offering title), my admin team added this information in the Offering description field. However, when I self enrol on the Course and then my chosen Offering, the description does not show at all - I see a screen that looks like a mash-up of the Course heading and the Offering Activities, but no description for either level:
