Combine or batch together approval emails for different requests to the approvers

Summary:

Is there a way that we can allow for the approval emails to be combined ,consolidated or batched together of different requests to the same approver at some defined frequency rather than sending individual approval emails for each request immediately after submission?

Or can we turn off system wide notifications and then is there a way we can pull the list of requests awaiting approval from each approver and email it out separately as a report etc?
