Can an item FBDI template be loaded without item numbers if the item class has a number generation?

Hello, I tried testing uploading an Item FBDI by filling all the fields in the template except for the item number. The item number generation rule for the item class is enabled. The load seems to be successful but when i search for the items based on the creation date or the item description, i cannot find my newly created items. Are we able to create items in batch with the FBDI without providing an item number?
