What does it mean "Continues reporting to the current manager" in Line manager's direct reports?

When I tried to update the Job Title for the Employee, his Line Manager was not able to see any notification to approve this change. So, I checked the Line Manager's direct reports & found that the checkbox is not checked & in the Proposed manager field it is mentioned as "Continues Reporting to the current Manager". Is there any solution to this?
