CPQ and Murphy's Law - just for fun!
"If there's more than one way to do a job, and one of those ways will result in disaster, then someone will do it that way."
Or, more commonly, "Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong."
Murphy's Law attempts to crystallize a key principle of defensive design (or defensive programming), in which one should always assume worst-case scenarios. Here are a few corollaries I created over more than a decade as they apply to CPQ.
- It shouldn't be that hard, but it will be
- If you allow it, they will
- If you allowed it, someone has
- The fix for a bug will migrate to production just after it was needed most
