Groovy script execution continues after browser close?

Summary:

hi! As I understand and from previous posts: Groovy can be used in our business objects that run on the server in a java based environment.

Does that mean that after the user performs a UI action that triggers a Groovy script, that Groovy script will continue to run even if the user closes their browser session? (up to whatever timeout is set for the script)

And after the Groovy script execution, there is no expectation to return control to the UI?
