What is the reason to create contracts based on AR Invoice

I have created Invoice in fusion receivables and imported both revenue & billing data to create contracts with billing information. 
Here, I would like to understand the design of AR Fusion to RMCS integration to create the contracts based on AR Invoices. Ideally contracts should be created based on sales information either from Order Management Module or any third party system. It doesn't make any sense to create contracts from AR as evolution of the contract starts much before the AR Process. or Am I missing any functionality here?
