We are implementing Demand and Replenishment Planning. Demand Planning will be used to generate Forecast for saleable items looking at the Demand History and Replenishment Planning will be used to recommend planned orders looking at Inventory Levels, Open Supplies and Demand (Sales Orders and Forecast). In our case, Sales orders are shipped in Eaches while Purchase orders are placed in Cases.

I am planning to keep the Base Unit of Measure of items as Each and not cases since I believe it should be the lowest unit in which items are transacted. Since demand is in Eaches many times and if we keep the Base UOM as Cases, our demand history and Forecast will be in decimals. Replenishment Planning will show data only in the Base UOM and accordingly it will show such SO in eaches with UOM as Case (Again decimals). However, Users might not agree with Base UOM as Each since Replenishment planning will show the planned orders in
