8 REST calls vs 1 BIP Call? Payables to Refund to orginal Receivables trx

Summary:

We have a situation where we need to use OIC to capture a Payables Payment creation event, and from that payment navigate all the way back to the Receivables Refund and from there to the original Receivables Transaction that the refund was against and the distributions attached to it.

Should we use 8 REST calls to navigate back through these references, or use one single BIP query (even though e.g the A Team advises against it: )
