remove invalid promotion from cart

We are unable to remove an invalid promotion from the cart. Even removing the product from the cart, doesn't work.

When we apply a promotion to the cart, then the promotion is valid. However, if the user doesn't go ahead with the order submit and after some time, the promotion gets invalid (set inactive or end-date is set), the coupon remains with the order. If we try to remove the promotion from the cart, then it gives the error "invalid promotion" but the promotion remains attached to the cart.

We tried removing the product from the cart and deleting the order from the API, however, nothing worked.
