Workday definition impacting Employee's Assignment history

OTL calculations of overnight entries (Example: An employee works from 2200 to 0200) did not behave as expected. T&L was calculating that activity as 2 different entries. 1 from 2200 - 2359 and one from 0000-0200. This was impacting payroll and employees' pay.

In order to overcome this situation, we updated the workday definition on the T&L Schedules. This is now impacting the employee's assignment history. I've attached the below screenshot for reference. Has anyone experienced such a scenario and if so, what was your solution to overcome this issue?
