Assigning lot of Categories to Book

1) We have lot of catogories to be assigned to Asset Book. The N->Asset categories. Go to the required category and assign the book.
2) We have many books to be assigned as well.
I know there is no supported API so just wondering  if there is any insert statement can be used by development because we have to setup thousands of records.
