Where is all of the space?

Hello,
I am new in my position and new as a SAN admin. We have a 6580 for our SAN. I've been reviewing the way the volumes have been configured and the space has been carved up. I'm see what appears to me as a waist of space.
I see several "pools" that were created with 10 to 20TB, but only a fraction of that is available for use. I have one pool that was created with 18+TB, no volumes are in that pool, but only 1.1GB is available for use. I have another that was created with 10.9TB, 235GB is being used but there is only 3.4TB available. Again, where is all of the space?
