Excessive CPU time for dtlogin, uttsc-bin and zenity?

edited Jan 18, 2012 2:00AM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered
I frequently see processes like dtlogin, uttsc-bin and zenity sitting at the top of the prstat list consuming around 6% of a CPU for extended periods of time, like 24+ hours. Other instances of these processes are using around 0.1% of a CPU, according to prstat.

Sometimes there is a Kiosk Mode username associated with the process, sometimes, especially with dtlogin, the username is "root". According to ptree, these processes appear to be orphaned, that is, they have no other processes in their ptree.

Anyone else see these?

I've been using 'kill -9' or 'utsession -k' as appropriate to remove them, but the next day, they are back. Am I missing some dtlogin

Howdy, Stranger!
