Setting up approvals using the job position approval hierarchy across business groups

I need to have an approval hierarchy in purchasing whereby positions from different business groups lie in the same hierarchy and approvals are forwarded from a person under a certain position in business group 1, to another person under another position in business group 2. This is a logical requirement for centrally-led procuring organizations.
