Error Communication between Agent and OEM GridControl 11G

I have successfully installed OEMGC 11 on RHEL 5 64 bit  and then tried pushing the agents to the database servers. This did not work. I was told by Oracle Support ot add to the /etc/hosts file on the agent and OMS servers  the following information: on the agent server: ip address  server dns name server dns alias from the OMS server
 on the OMS server: ip address  server dns name server dns alias from the agent server

I did so even though the documentation recommends doing this only if your servers are on different networks- which is not our case.

The agent push still did not work. So, I decided to try the agent pull - the agent installation worked well; finished without errors. The problem is that the agents can't communicate with the OMS.
